Home workout setup with yoga mat, yoga blocks, and a desk in a bright home office, representing a simple work-from-home exercise routine.

Let’s get this out of the way: I am not a high-impact workout girlie.
Which means my exercise routine has to work with me, not against me.

There’s no heavy lifting happening in my living room.
No burpees. No 5am treadmill sprints.
Just low-pressure movement that feels good enough to do more than once.

I work from home full time as a strategist (email marketing strategist, not fitness—let’s be clear), and for a while I felt like I needed to force some elaborate routine to feel like I was doing enough. But the truth is, I’m a better human, business owner, and creative when I move my body in ways that support my mind just as much as my muscles.

So I built a sustainable exercise routine that actually fits my energy levels, brain chemistry, and work-from-home rhythm—without the pressure.

Here’s What’s Working for Me Right Now:

The Daily Exercise Routine

I keep this simple and repeatable. Every morning—before I open my laptop—I do low-impact movement to help regulate my nervous system and start the day feeling anchored. Some days it’s 20 minutes, others it’s an hour. I’ve learned it’s really important to listen to my body.

My go-to’s:

  • Light stretching
  • A yoga flow or core-focused movement (see my weekly schedule below)
  • A non-negotiable walk. TBH I love a long walk and usually shoot for an hour, but some days it’s only 10 minutes and thats a-okay! (Life Motto: If I’ve got time to scroll, I’ve got time to stroll.)

This isn’t about burning calories or hitting goals.
It’s about creating momentum and giving my brain the upper hand before my inbox pings and tabs start multiplying like rabbits.

Weekly Rhythm: Alternating Abs + Yoga

To keep things from feeling repetitive (and because that’s what the Instagram fitness coaches say I’m supposed to do), I alternate focus each day of the week.

Monday / Wednesday / Friday – Core Focus

These are “work your abs without hating your life” days. I keep it short—around 15-30 minutes—and repeat the same exercises each week.

Here’s what I usually do:

  • 30 sec slow mountain climbers
  • 30 sec bird dog
  • 30 sec dead bug
  • 30 sec plank (on elbows, sometimes on knees, it’s fine)
  • Rest and repeat for 3 rounds of 15 reps on each side

It’s not intense. But it wakes up my body and keeps me connected to myself.

Tuesday / Thursday / Saturday – Yoga Flow

These are my calm, stretchy, breathe-it-out, tune-it-in days. But also, I swear yoga has done wonders for toning my body! I usually follow one of these YouTube flows:

Sometimes I follow the whole video. Sometimes I lie on the floor during Savasana and answer emails in my head. Do what you can. No judgement here.

Sunday – Optional Reset Walk

Sometimes I go for a nature walk. Others I stretch in bed. And I’m not going to lie, some Sundays I simply binge-watch videos about productivity instead of being productive. Either way, I give myself space.

Why This Exercise Routine Actually Works for Me

This exercise routine isn’t built to make me “fit.” It’s built to make me feel present.

It helps with my focus when I’m writing, keeps me out of the panic-sit-scroll-repeat cycle, and genuinely helps me regulate my energy so I don’t burn out midweek.

And okay, I’ll admit it—there’s a metaphor here I didn’t mean to make:

Just like a good email marketing automation system, this rhythm supports me behind the scenes. Even on the days when I’m not feeling it, I have structure. Consistency. And a soft place to land.

Final Thought

If you’ve been stuck in the all-or-nothing loop with movement, I hope this helps. You don’t have to do 75 hard or lift heavy or sweat through a HIIT class to care for your body.

You can build something simple. Something gentle. Something sustainable.
Most importantly, something that fits you.

Start with one thing. Add another when it feels good.
This isn’t a race. It’s a rhythm.
